Right amount of lighting: giving your plants the proper amount of light is huge. Different plants require different lighting situations. Some require lots of light, while others prefer dimly lit rooms. Figure out what type of lighting your living space has and then purchase the correct plant accordingly.

Clean your plants: just like anything else in your home, plants get dusty and need to be cleaned. Dust particles can block sunlight and cause your plants to wither.

Add humidity:  if the tips of your plant leaves are brown, your home is probably too dry. Try to add a bit of humidity by grouping plants together.

Booking hotel. when you book a hotel, be conscious about distance. Being too far away from the action can take all the fun out of your trip. At worst, you’d like to be a short taxi’s ride away from where you will be hanging out.

Planning activities. planning activities is a huge part of the weekend trip, as long as you don’t over plan. The key is to have fun, while leaving yourself with enough time to relax and remain stress free.

Not bringing snacks. being hungry and irritable is a surefire way to get stressed out and angry on a trip. Take a bag of snacks so you can have access to food whenever you need it.

Quick and Easy Grilling Tips

Group of friends dishing up food at table

Do you need a little help grilling this summer? Maybe cooking and BBQs just aren’t your thing. But there is no need to worry, because grilling is a low pressure way to cook that anyone can get the hang of. You might not become a grill master in a week, but with our quick and easy tips, you’ll be serving great meals in no time. Here are a few tips.

Don’t pierce the meat: piercing the meat will only cause the juices to leak out and the meat will dry up faster. If you are cooking chicken, let the meat take its time cooking on low or in direct heat.

Grilling veggies: grilled veggies can be tough to do during a BBQ. Instead, wrap your veggie mix in foil, toss in some butter or olive oil and let them cook off to the side.

Let it cook: most of us have a tendency to want to constant check on the meat. But the best way to cook is by closing the meat and letting it cook uninterrupted.

Netflix or Hulu subscriptions: we are living in the “Golden Age” of television, so why not get dad a subscription for a month or two so he can finally put his tablet to good use?

SlingTV: speaking of great TV, you can now steam live television for $20 bucks a month on SlingTV. You can get over 20 channels, which is great for those dads who are on the go and never get to watch the game or the latest episode of Modern family.

Fitbit: if you have an active dad, a Fitbit wrist monitor is a great gift to help count his steps, monitor his sleep and overall heath. Fitbit monitors are in the $100 range and above.
